I had the good fortune of hiring David Malysheff as my Director of Photography on my very first production. Dave recognized my deficiencies  and stepped in numerous times to ensure I that got what was needed for the final cut. "Just one more take” was a common statement throughout the initial shoot.  Invariably the extra footage was used and the project was made better by Dave's involvement. We work so well together that I would be hard pressed to consider another DOP for any project Mattyco undertakes.
